Sahibganj Forest Division is a division of the forest department of the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is located in Sahibganj District, which is situated in the eastern part of Jharkhand. The division covers an area of about 206 square kilometers and is known for its diverse flora and fauna.
Sahibganj forest Division is home to a variety of flora and fauna. Some of the important species found in the division include the sal tree, teak tree, bamboo and medicinal plants. The forest is also home to a variety of animals, such as elephants, tigers, leopards, wild boars and various species of deer.
Fossils Park, Mandro- The main aim behind the construction of the park is to conserve fossils, generating awareness about the importance of fossil preservation, eco-tourism promotion and livelihood opportunity creation for locals here. These fossil remains are estimated to be about 145-200 million years old. The park has several facilities including a museum-cum-auditorium, a mini laboratory and an eco-tourism complex.
Udhwa Lake Bird Sanctuary- Udhwa Bird Sanctuary, located in the Sahibganj district in Jharkhand, is the state’s only bird sanctuary. At present, Udhwa Bird Sanctuary is hoping to get the prestigious Ramsar Site status. The bird sanctuary is spread across an area of 565 hectares and supports a large number of resident and migratory birds. This improvement can be attributed to the large scale projects like habitat improvement, educating the locals about nature, sensitising the locals about eco-tourism prospects and working towards putting an end to the problem of poaching in the area.
Moti Jharna- If you are a nature lover then you must visit Moti Jharna, Sahibganj. The place is known for its natural scenic beauty, which serves as a good relaxation spot for many tourists. Moti Jharna is situated near the town of Maharajpur which is around 10 kms from Sahibganj. This spot is also considered to be a very beautiful picnic spot. The stream found its source from the Rajmahal hills. The three cascading waterfalls from a height of 50 m are main attraction of the place. This site is maintained by Sahibganj Forest Division.
