  • Both are the flag ship projects of Govt. of India and Rural Development Department of Govt. of Jharkhand is the implementing department at the state level.
  • The JSWM – SLNA has been specifically created under Rural Development Department for planning, execution and monitoring of the project at the grass root level which is headed by Chief Executive officer to oversee its activities.
  • Its activities are governed by common guidelines of Govt. of India, 2008 (revised in 2011), state specific process guidelines for IWMP, Jharkhand 2011 and Financial Manual for IWMP Projects, 2011.
  • IWMP projects in the forest department are currently being executed by 36 Divisional Forest officers, both territorial and Social Forestry Divisions.
  • There are 59 projects in hand covering 657 micro sheds of Jharkhand state.
  • Since the IWMP aims at soil & water conservation, capacity building and livelihood promotion of rural folks, it goes a long way in forest conservation by reducing their dependence on forest.
  • Similarly, large scale plantation activities under MNREGA have also been taken up by the department in the past. District wise plantation targets have also been fixed by RDD for the year 2015-16 with convergence from forest department.
