About Jamshedpur Forest Division


Jamshedpur forest division is divided into five regions, the division has a forest covered area of total 88958.72 Ha. The range wise distribution of which is as follows. Mango range 6207.80 Ha., Ghatshila Forest Range 10871.11 Ha., Chakulia Forest Range 21995.39 Ha., Musabani Forest Range 30008.50 Ha., Rakhamines Forest Range 19875.922 Ha. With abundance of Sal trees the forests are rich and green conserving varieties of flora and fauna and contributing to the ecological health of the globe.

Overall, Jamshedpur Forest Division plays a vital role in protecting the natural resources of the region and ensuring sustainable development in the area.

Dalma Wild Life Sanctuaary

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is situated around the Dalma Hills. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a much larger area starting from Chandil to 40 km east. The sanctuary covers around 195 km2.
It is about 100 km from the capital city Ranchi, and 15 km from the steel city Jamshedpur. Dalma Sanctuary is spread over 193 km2 of forests of East Singhbhum and Saraikela-kharsawan districts of the state of Jharkhand.

Dimna Lake artificial reservoir

Dimna Lake is situated at the foot of Dalma Hills. Dimna Lake covers about 5.5 km2, around 1,861 acres were acquired under the Land Acquisition Act of 1894 for the dam. The Lake is the only source of drinking water for Jamshedpur town. The lake is near to the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary.

It is about 100 km from the capital city Ranchi, and 15 km from the steel city Jamshedpur. The total storage capacity of Dimna Lake  is about 120 lakh cubic feet. The spread of water in the lake is approximately two square miles. The lake is 3 and a half miles long and about a mile wide. There are two short dams of the composite type, one 800 ft. long and the second 1,200 ft. long. The maximum height of the dam from the lowest level is 83 feet and the maximum width at the bottom is about 400 ft. The source of water generation is rainfall.

JUBLEE PARK

Jubilee Park is an urban park located in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, It is a popular destination for all those who wish to have an outdoor picnic, enjoy some Outdoor activities and games or even just to have a relaxing day out with friends and family. Popular amongst joggers and cyclists, it is a gigantic park, recreation centre, fountains and a zoo, amongst other attractions.

This local attraction was opened to the public in 1958, on the occasion  of the city's golden jubilee, the 50th anniversary of establishment. This park was originally a gift to the town of Tatanagar (Jamshedpur) from the Tata Steel Company.The entire park is spread over 500 acres (2.0 km2)

Interesting Plants of the District

The Gymnosperm, Gnetuum scandens is found in this district in the valleys. The stemless pallm, phoenix acaulis, though seen elsewhere also on the Chotanagpurr and Palamau plateaux is abundant. Especially in the area south of Tataanagar Cassytha filliformis, the greenn thread like parasite, several species of loranthus and several epiphytic orchids are seen here. The white barked gouty stemmed trees of Stercuulia urens and Boswellia serrata are very conspicuous against the backkground of the black rocks.


Fauna
Elephants are frequently met with in the forests of this district and their number seems to be on the increase. Wild elephants are common in the jungles on the Dalma range in the north of the district. Heavy damage is caused mainly in rains to cultivation, young bamboo clumps and regeneration areas. In drier periods of the year they confine themselves to damp valleys. Bisions are present but in more interior areas except in the rains when they are seen roaming about in open areas. Tigers and panthers are present but make very rare appearance. Bears are present in large numbers .

DHARAGIRI WATERFALLLS


The Dharagiri Falls are situated on a hilltop at a height of 20-25 feet. It  is regarded as one of the highest waterfalls in the Asia continent. This waterfall is surrounded by green woods and trekking trails. You can visit this waterfall and go for the adventurous sports. Trekking is the most preferred activity among the tourists.
 

TEMPLES


Rankini Mandir, also known as Kapadgadi Ghat Rankini Maandir is a temple situated in Rohinnibera village of Bansila Gram Panchayat in Potka block, near Jadugora, Jamshedpur in Jharkhand in India. The stone that is the murthi is believed to be a physical incarnation
of Goddess Kali. It is widely believed that during ancient times, people travelling through the dense forest used to worship at the Rankini Devi temple for their protectiion and well being.


It is said about Maa Rankkini temple that Goddess Rankini is seated in a stone and is still awake today. Rankini Temple was established during 1947-50, at present, the place where the mother is worshipped has been established.


Harina Shiva Temple, East Singhbhum District


Harina Shiva Temple of East Singhbhum district in Jharkhand is a  temple where the people from the parts of Jharkhand come and offer worship too Lord Shiva.
Harina Shiva Temple is located in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. Harina Shiva Temple is possitioned approximately about 29 Kilometers from Potka Block Headquaarter of the East Singhbhum district.

Harina Shiva Temple is fammous for Lord Shiva Linga. Lord Shiva is worshipped especially on the last day of the month of Jyestha.  According to the Indian mythology, on this day of Jyestha, a number of Shiva lings spring up from ground neaar the original Shiva lingam and disaappear subsequently. A common fair is held on this date. The  festival lasts for three days.


Gotashila temple


Gotashila temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is the major attraction for the tourists in this part of Jharkhand . There is a natural waterfall to add to the scenic beauty. A speciaal Puja is offered to Lord Shiva on thhis mountain during the month of July.Large number of piligrims from different parts of Jharkhand , orrisa , west Bengal and bihat gather here to worsship. They take bath at the nearby go tashila water fall and offer prayers.

Baba Siddheshwar Nath Temple


There is a Shiva temple of Baba Siddheshwar Nath situated at a height  of 2000 feets adjoining Roam village of Jaduguuda police station area. This temple is the center of great faith for the people in the entire Ghatshila subdivision. Devotees from Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha gather here during Mahashivratri in the month of Sawan. The wishes of the devotees are fulfilled by seeing Shiv Baba and worshiping with a  true heart. The temple was re instated by Baba Vinay Das of Galudih.


Bhubaneshwari Temple


The Great Bhubaneshwaari Temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhubaneshwari,  Goddesss of the Universe, and is located on Bhubaneshwari Hill (approximately 500 feet). Jamshedpur's highest point offers stunning vieews of the city. The temple is built inn typical South Indian architectural style and has a 10-meter high sacred sanctuary that houses ann impressive idol of the Goddess. It is believed among the temple's devotees and priests that each of her eight pillars of the temple is the home of a different incarnation of the presiding goddess. It was built in 1978 by a Tamil priest, Swami Rangaa Rajan, and is located in his colony of Tata Motors.
