About Jamtara Forest Division

 

Jamtara Forest Division is a division of the forest department of the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is located in the Jamtara district, which is situated in the eastern part of Jharkhand. The division covers an area of about 1811 square kilometers and is known for its diverse flora and fauna.

The Jamtara Forest Division is home to a variety of flora and fauna. Some of the important species found in the division include the Sal, Mahua, Asan, Arjun, Neem, Piyal, Kend, Kaju, Bamboo & Medicinal plants. The forest is also home to a variety of animals, such as elephants, pangolin, porcupine, civets, jackal, fox, hare, wild boars, and some species of deer. Due to the network of rivers like Barakar, Ajay, Shela and numerous water bodies including Maithan dam backwater, the division is also home to many species of birds including migratory birds.
