About PTR North Forest Division
Palamau Tiger Project, North Division Medininagar, located within Palamau Tiger Reserve, is a wildlife forest division under Palamau Tiger Project Circle, Medininagar. The location of PTR North Division is falls under Latehar District of Jharkhand. Office is situated at Medininagar town. The division shares boundary with PTR South Division in South, Medininagar Forest Division in its North, Latehar Forest Division in East and Garhwa South Forest Division in the West. It also shares interstate boundary with Chhattisgarh State.
PTR North Division consists of Palamau Wildlife Sanctuary, Betla National Park and Palamau Tiger Reserve. Adjoining area of this division are falls under Eco- Sensitive Zone of PWLS, BNP and Mahuadanr WS.
PTR North Division is well connected to Rail and road network. NH-39 (revised name of NH-75) connects Ranchi- Latehar- Medininagar at 175 km. Major head rail- Hehegarha, Chhipadohar, Barwadih and Kechki is connected main rail line which connects Hawarah- Barkakana- Daltonganj- Garhwa Road- Banaras- New Delhi.

Palamau Tiger Reserve is located in the Chhotanagpur Plateau region at an altitude of 300 to 1,025 meters from MSL and surrounded by the Latehar and Garhwa districts. The area is known for drought- prone area, extreme heat & average rainfall. Highest temperature goes up to 44°C in Barwadih and down up to 1°C in Saruwat forest of Kutku Range.

How to reach
The forest of PTR North Division is 175 km away from Ranchi, 20 km from Daltonganj and 70 km from District HQ, Latehar. NH 39 (old name NH 75) is well connected to Ranchi, Latehar and Daltonganj. State Highway 09 connects Lodh Fall, Netarhat, Gumla. Hawarah- New Delhi Rail line and Ranchi- Banaras Rail line is also running through forests of division. Birsa Munda Airport is 190 km away from division.
